How long is the training?
The program is a consecutive 5-week course which meets once a week. The first session is 2 hours long and all following sessions are exactly one hour.

How much time do I have to set aside for practice?
20-25 minutes a day, which should be broken into 4 or 5 sessions of 5 minutes each. Since dogs have short attention spans, the sessions should be short, upbeat and fun for both you and the dog.

At what age can I start to train my dog?
From 7 weeks of age and older. The sooner the better! The first 4 months of a dog’s life are called the “socialization period” and anything that does or does not happen to the dog during this time will influence his behavior for the rest of his life.

My dog is 4 years old. Can I still train him?
Absolutely! Older dogs are often calmer and more attentive. If your dog has a behavioral problem that’s been going on for years it may require more time on your part to retrain the dog.

What are your methods?
We use positive, reward-based training to teach you how to motivate your dog. This techniques are very effective and has been used for years with dolphins, killer whales and many other animals.

Is physical punishment ever used?
NO. We don’t use physical punishment, choke chains or electronic shock collars.
These techniques are ineffective as well as inhumane and will often contribute to the

development of aggressive and defensive behavior in dogs.

What equipment will I need?
A flat buckle collar, a 6ft leather or fabric leash and your dog’s favorite soft treats.

Where does the training take place?
Since your dog spends the majority of time at home, the first 4 sessions take place in your home. Session 5 is conducted in a busy, public space like a playground or park. This is where your dog is taught to obey you in different environments and amidst distractions.

Do you offer a guarantee?
No.  I feel it’s unethical to offer guarantees on animal behavior. Dog behavior is influence by both the dog’s genetic material as well as the amount of time and practice that the owner puts into the training programs. Both are factors over which I have no control.
